Fitting Process

Most of our customers have some kind of pain or discomfort that prevents them from enjoying an active, meaningful life.  At Total Relief Footwear, we know that your pain is very personal to you, and we make every effort to ensure the best possible fit and to provide the maximum pain relief that this footwear can provide.  When you walk into our store, we will ask you questions about what type of shoe you are looking for, and what types of activities you are trying to pursue. If you are experiencing foot, leg or back pain, we want to know what is bothering you. Our goal is to match you with the right shoe and the right support to make your life as enjoyable as possible. We are not about pushing brands, we are about trying to find the solution that works the best for you.

1. Selecting the Appropriate Shoe
When you arrive at Total Relief Footwear, please allow  at least 30 minutes fitting. We will explain the design of the shoe, help you select the footwear that is most appropriate for your activities, measure your feet and make sure the shoe is sized properly. Then we will ask you to spend about five minutes walking around the store to experience the feel of your footwear selection. While you are walking, we will check your toe room, arch support, heel fit and shoe width. We will also ask you to be specific about the pain you are experiencing so we can focus on those issues and provide the best comfort possible.

2. Free Digital Foot Scanning
Using state-of-the-art iStep digital foot scanning technology, we can determine your arch height, weight distribution, center of gravity and peak pressure points on your feet. The iStep system provides valuable information and will make specific recommendations for arch support and pressure relief. The iStep machine will also recommend the appropriate shoe based on your foot type.

3. Customized Fitting of the Footwear
Our goal is to achieve the best fit possible. We will examine the shape of your foot and make all necessary adjustments for maximum support and comfort while you wait. We can adjust for flat feet, high arches, wide feet, bunions & corns, hammertoes, heel spurs, Mortons Neuromas and many other conditions that can be responsible for foot pain. Many of our shoes can also be balanced for over-pronation (rolling in) or over-supination (rolling out) as you walk. We also maintain a Fitting Card for all customers that documents the adjustments we have made to your footwear. If you ever need to come in for an adjustment, we have a record of your fitting history on file.
