Z-Technology
Z-OrthoticTM
A rigid built-in orthotic cradles the foot, equalizing pressure distribution to reduce your chance of
developing heel spurs or plantar fasciitis (pain in the mid-foot).
 |
|
Upper
Z-CoiL uppers are built to last, using the finest materials appropriate for each style. Most seams are
double-stitched for added durability. With proper shoe care, many of our customers enjoy years of wear. |
 |
Coil
A conical steel coil greatly reduces the rate of impact absorbed at heel-strike.
Heel Pad
If the rubber heel pad wears down, there's no need to buy a new pair of shoes - your Z-CoiL distributor
can replace the enitire heel assembly at a minimal cost.

|
Forefoot Cushioning
3/4 inch of soft, resilient cushioning protects the metatarsal bones.
Flex Line & Rocker Bottom
A built-in flex line and rocker bottom provide a natural rolling motion at the ball of the foot.

The Z-OrthoticTM
|
Why rigid support?
When your arch is left unsupported, the plantar ligaments across the base of your foot are prone to over-stretching and
irritation, which may cause painful heel spurs or plantar fasciitis.
Z-CoiL footwear is built upon a rigid orthotic foundation, which cradles and protects your mid-foot. This patented
Z-OrthoticTM is integrated into the footwear and anchors the coil. The Z-OrthoticTM serves to distribute impact pressure
evenly across the bottom of the foot as well, reducing sore spots.
Many of our customers also report an improvement in their posture when they wear Z-CoiL shoes, which may be the result of
having proper foot support.

The Coil
Engineered to Reduce Impact
Facts:
- Walking Impact = 2 to 3 times your body weight
- Running Impact = 3 to 5 times your body weight
| |
Excessive impact is a major cause of foot, leg, and back pain. Each step is a collision that sends shockwaves up your
body.
The signature coil under the heel of Z-CoiL footwear helps to protect your body from the damaging effects of impact.
As the coil compresses during heel-strike, it significantly slows the rate of impact experienced by the body. In fact,
studies by Sandia National Laboratories have shown
that Z-CoiL footwear provides 50% more cushioning when walking or running compared to conventional shoes.
An added benefit to the coil is energy return. The impact energy absorbed by the coil is stored as tension. As the foot
moves forward, that tension is released, delivering a 40% to 50% kinetic energy return.
Biomedical research has further shown that, as leg muscles (part of the body's natural shock absorbing system) get tired,
they loose as much as 25% of their ability to absorb impact. And since Z-CoiL footwear reduces impact while also returning
energy, people who wear Z-CoiL footwear often report that they are less tired and have more energy at the end of the day.

Z-CoiLs provide much greater shock reduction and better pressure distribution, when compared to conventional shoes.

Forefoot Cushioning & Flex Line
Protects the Ball of the Foot
The metatarsal bones at the ball of the foot are prone to injury from repetitive impact. Z-CoiL footwear protects your
forefoot with nearly an inch of soft and resilient cushioning. This cushioning also has a rocker-bottom shape to assist
your forward motion.
A flex line is built into the shoe at the ball of the foot where the Z-OrthoticTM plate ends, providing a
natural flex line. This allows your foot to bend naturally where it should and keeps the plantar ligament from
over-stretching. Contrary to popular belief, flexible shoes are not what your feet need.
Lack of forefoot cushioning can cause
fractured metatarsal bones. |
Achilles tendon can become sore or can
tear with a lack of cushioning. |
 |
These two plantar
ligaments can be stretched, bruised, or torn if there is poor mid-foot
support. |
Heel spurs, caused by the plantar
ligaments pulling away from the heel bone, are a result of poor support. |
